During the week of January 21, the BRCF Microscopy Core will be demoing a scanned, Gaussian light sheet microscope: the Bruker (Luxendo) MuVi SPIM. This system is most similar to the simultaneous multi-view system developed by Philipp Keller at Janelia.
The MuVi SPIM offers:
- Resolution and field of view: Cellular-level resolution imaging (1 x 1 x 4 um voxels) over large volumes (up to 1 x 1 x 1 mm) at modest frame rates (~1 volume per minute).
- Sample types: Fixed and cleared tissue samples (including expansion microscopy samples) or clear, living embryos (e.g. Drosophila or zebrafish).
If you would like to try this system, please contact the Core ASAP with a description of your sample and experimental goals (firstname.lastname@example.org). The Microscopy Core will also assist you with any needed tissue clearing or expansion microscopy protocols. These protocols can take 1-2 weeks to complete, so please have your fixed samples available no later than than January 7.
